Another concern for senior pets becomes quality of life. As many conditions associated with aging (arthritis) can cause pain and discomfort, we will work closely with you to ensure your pet is happy, comfortable, and enjoying life. If you have any questions about your pet’s needs, do not hesitate to call us and we will be happy to help you.
When performing a senior wellness examination, we will check out everything from head-to-tail, just like we would do with a younger pet. We will still address preventive care and vaccinations, as these aspects of pet care never lose their importance. However, as a senior, they will have additional needs as well. Often, we will recommend advanced diagnostics such as blood work, urinalysis, and x-rays. The lab work lets us know if your pet’s internal organs are functioning as they should; x-rays help show us areas of arthritis in the joints as well as tumors that may be growing in the chest and abdomen.
